Strainprint App Review: A New Way To Track Cannabis Consumption

Strainprint App Review: A New Way To Track Cannabis Consumption

A couple of weeks ago, I received a request to review an application that was relatively new to the app store called Strainprint. According to their site, “[Strainprint’s] mission is to help people use cannabis in the most effective way possible. By guiding patients to track their own cannabis intake, we will help to refine and improve treatment. It is our aim to advance the scientific understanding of cannabis and its legitimization as a therapy.” This is a unique idea and I believe the premise is something that could be really beneficial to the study of the effects of different strains of marijuana. So, I decided to give it a shot! Here are my thoughts:

– The setup process for Strainprint couldn’t be easier. If you use cannabis to treat any medical conditions, you’re more than likely to find the condition on the extensive list the Strainprint provides. In addition to that, you can select the symptoms you experience as a result of the condition and that really impressed me. You can really narrow it down, which is helpful when you use the Snapshot feature.

Is Your Bud Laced With Something? Use Your Senses

You should always be careful when getting prepackaged marijuana, even if it’s from a trusted trusted sources. Pre-rolled joints alone could include things like synthetic marijuana, crystal meth, PCP, and crack cocaine. It can cost a ridiculous amount to test every batch of weed you get from a less that reputable dealer, so here are five ways to tell if your weed is laced with something by using your senses.

Trust Your Eyes

Before you grind up and light up, always take a good look at your bud for more than a picture to post on the ‘gram. Make sure that the trichomes on your plant look legit because there have been instances where shady dealers try to add laundry detergent or little pieces of glass to make bad weed look better. Even worse, some crushed pills and other drugs can be sprinkled on top of a bowl to look like kief. Another telling sign is if when you go to light the bowl, there is a lot of sparking and popping. Sure, sometimes you get shwag weed with seeds in it and they pop, but if the popping is more than a little constant, the weed may be contaminated.

Trust Your Nose

We all know (and a lot of us love) the smell of fresh marijuana in the morning… or vaped marijuana.. or smoked marijuana. If your bud doesn’t smell quite right, first and foremost, check for mold. After no mold is confirmed, be aware of the possibility that whomever grew the bud initially did not do a complete flush and there could still be pesticides and other harmful chemicals still in the plant. If the smell gets worse, or stops smelling like cannabis all together, the weed could be laced with another drug. It’s probably a good idea to put that stuff down.

Trust Your Tastebuds

Despite the harsh feeling that the irritants in cannabis leave in your throat when you smoke, it shouldn’t necessarily taste bad. When you inhale the smoke, it makes a pass over your tongue and tastebuds. If the weed tastes like an unflavored chewable aspirin, it may be laced with something. Another thing to watch out for would be an extra harsh feeling in your throat and lungs, especially if you’re an experienced smoker.

Trust Your Body

You know your body better than anyone. The side effects of indica and sativa strains are different, of course, but if you’re experiencing more extreme symptoms, something could have been in your bud. Memory loss, agitation, insomnia, excessive energy, and an overwhelming sense of euphoria. Most of those symptoms are easily associated with specific hard drugs that can be mixed with cannabis.

Our friends at put together a list of ways to check to see if the weed you have is legit. Stay safe out there!

Does weed go bad?

If you’re like me, every once in a while, you set aside some bud for later or just forget that you have it all together. When it’s found again, you have the thought “…I wonder if this has gone bad” because we’ve all we’ve all been burned by a carton of milk… at least once.

Great news stoners: weed doesn’t go bad, sort of.

Old weed doesn’t rot or poison you or make you physically ill. Mostly, it’ll just be terrible to smoke and burn your throat when you inhale it. Also, if you leave it in a damp place, old marijuana can grow mold on it. Old weed will also go bad in the sense if decreasing in potency depending on how it was stored. The THC, or technically the THCA, can be converted to CBN, which is less psychoactive than THC.

Overall, if you store your weed correctly, it can last for years. If you don’t, it just won’t make you as high as it did when it was fresher. The best way to store you weed to not let it go bad is to keep it in a glass or ceramic jar in a cool, dry place. Vacuum-sealing it works great too.

But what if you already have bud that’s too dry? Fear not, my stoner friends. Though it may not restore the THC that was lost, there are ways to rehydrate bud that’s already too dry to smoke comfortable. You can also vape it, or make edibles with it. All is not lost, friends.

Let me know about your experience with old weed!

How To Season Your Titanium Nail

Without properly seasoning your new titanium nail, your essential oil might have a slightly metallic taste.  It’s the same principle as cast iron pans… if you cook on an unseasoned cast iron pan, your food is going to taste funky. Seasoning your nail will also remove polishes from the manufacturing process off of the nail’s surface.

Place your nail on the joint of your rig. (At this point, you’ll know for sure if you bought the correct size nail).

Take your torch (preferably butane) and evenly heat up the titanium until it begins to turn red hot. (No need to overheat the nail at this stage).

Using a titanium dabber, put on your essential oil concentrate to the cup of your hot nail and “coat” the areas you want to be seasoned.

Allow nail to cool down a little bit and repeat Step 3, three to five times.

Congratulations, your nail is ready to use.

Place your titanium nail in a bowl or container.

Pour 91% isopropyl into the bowl until your nail is fully submerged in alcohol.

Remove nail from solution and allow it to air dry.

Europe, Spice, and Everything Nice

Parts of America have become very fortunate in that they can now smoke weed recreationally. Let me tell you, you’re some lucky motherfuckers. While we Europeans like to think we’re more advanced than America, I mean, at least we get free healthcare, weed legalization still seems a long way off for most of us.

There is hope of course. Amsterdam has always been a great spot to vacation and Germany is actually considering legalization. But, most of us still have to do without.

Legal Alternatives to Weed

That’s where we come in. I am the co-founder of Flight AMS. We provide quality synthetics and other legal products and have been for over 7 years. We started off running head shops and then decided to move the business online. Customers seem to prefer the delivery to their door anyway.

If any of you are involved in the head shop business, you know how hard it is to stay within the constantly changing laws. Try doing it for 44 different countries with 44 different languages. While we certainly enjoy, I mean really enjoy, what we do, it’s a lot of work.

While we sell synthetics, the honest to god fact is that most of us would prefer some weed. However, many of our customers have families and jobs that make crossing the law a really bad idea. Plus, synthetics have some different effects, which are enjoyable in their own right.

Exact Opposites

The funny thing about the whole situation is that, while weed is illegal and synthetics aren’t in Europe, it’s the exact opposite in America. Many states are starting to legalize weed, but synthetics have become illegal.

Cowboys & Safety

Now, there’s a good reason for that. Apart from the usual scare stories the media pushes out there, there were also a lot of cowboys in the industry who put god knows what in their products. Some people got sick, some people had bad reactions. And, of course, there’s always a small percentage that will have a bad reaction to a particular product no matter what, be it aspirin or marijuana.

Since you couldn’t always be sure what you’re getting and, because the products weren’t regulated for human consumption, you might have a vendor create two different batches using two completely different blends. So you gotta be careful and only shop from trusted vendors.

Once you find a good vendor you can trust, you’re good to go. And it’s a fun business to be in. Obviously, we get to sample our own stuff basically for free and we get to talk with a lot of cool people that love our product.

Surfing and Running a Business

Moving the business online has been awesome. I can now travel all over Europe to connect with customers. And running everything online means I can even go surfing in the Philippines for a week and still run my business. Not a bad life, if you ask me.

If the more adventurous among you ever decide to come on over, we’ll be happy to hear from you.

4 Ways To Control Coughing While Dabbing/Smoking

If you’ve done a dab, you’ve been there. You hit the concentrate and inhale that sweet, potent, goodness and your lungs decide it’s a great time to try and jump out of your throat. So you’re sitting there, hacking up a lung with your eyes watering, wondering how you can prevent this in the future. There are actually ways to control coughing after you dab. In theory, this could also apply to smoking as well, but here are 5 things I’ve found helpful to control coughing.

1. Always have something to drink handy

Cannabis is a throat irritant when inhaled and an irritated throat is one of the main reasons people cough. Your body is trying to expel whatever it thinks is making your throat feel weird. So, to solve this, have a drink handy. Water and tea are especially helpful for calming down a coughing fit. Just take a sip right after you exhale. Some people even suggest taking a sip while you hold the vapor. It sounds messy, but I bet if you could master it it’d be helpful.

2. Deep Breaths

If I know I’m about to take a giant glob, I take a couple of deep breaths before I do it. I release all the air from my lungs and then refill them, repeating the process until I inhale my hit. Taking those deep breaths allowed my lungs to expand some to prepare for the deep breath I was about to take. Since my lungs could then accommodate it, I find myself exhaling normally more than actually coughing.

3. Dab more, but in smaller amounts

This one is two fold. If you want to avoid coughing, dab more. I know that seems counterintuitive, but since concentrated cannabis is a throat irritant, smoking more of it would help your body group a resistance to the irritating effects. The second part, dabbing smaller amounts, is equally as important. Dabbing is not a contest about who could take more. You end up wasting concentrate like that. Dabbing a smaller amount means there’s less vapor to make you cough. You may even get more high because you’re able to properly take the hit with smaller amounts.

4. Cool down your dabs

In order for you to take dabs with a rig, the heating of the nail is crucial. The downside to this, however, is the heat is also a throat irritant. If the dabs come off of the nail a little cooler, they may not irritate your throat as much. You could possibly even consider moving from a titanium nail to a lower heat nail like quartz or ceramic.

Dab on!

Happy New Year from

Happy New Year guys! 2016 was an interesting year, but we can all agree that it was a great year for marijuana legalization! We added a few more recreational and medical states into the fold and so far, it’s been awesome. We’ve come so far, yet we still have such a long way to go.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you guys for stopping by and reading my content. Your support is more appreciated than you could ever imagine. Thanks for going on this ride with me!

Here’s to 2017!

How To Smoke Dabs With No Rig

After moving recently, I found myself in a predicament: I had a few grams of high quality Blue Dream shatter, no bud, and no rig. I had to get a little creative. These are a few of the ways that I was able to smoke that bomb ass shatter without a dab rig.

Lighting a glass one hitter

I have to admit, this one made me feel like I was smoking crack or meth or something, but it was  the hands down most efficient way to dab my shatter. I heated the end of my glass one hitter with my butane torch, scooped a little shatter on my dab tool, and put the oil in the tip. Simple as that. It wasn’t as strong as a dab in a rig, but I definitely felt something. It was better than nothing. I will say that if you’re going to go this route, make sure that the glass one hitter you’re using is of a high quality. You don’t want to shatter your glass under the heat of the torch. In my opinion, it’s about as good of a dab as you can get with no rig.

Vaping oil with Arizer Solo

My flower vape of choice is the Arizer Solo. I got it for a deal and I’ve been in love with it since I got it. After a little research, I determined that I could put some oil in a rolling paper, heat up my vape, and vape the oil. In case you were wondering, there’s absolutely no mess. The oil is absorbed by the paper and burns off of it until the rolling paper is crispy. It wasn’t nearly as effective as the first method, but I did feel something and it was alright. Nothing to call home about. I assume this can be done in most flower vapes if you’re really in a bind.

Moral of the story is that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I ended up just buying a new tiny rig, and a wax vape pen. Neither have arrived and I’m excited for both. I’ll definitely let you guys know how it goes. Have you come up with any other ways to dab with no rig? Let me know!

It’s been a long time…

It’s been a long time since I posted something up on here! My bad man. I’m gonna get back into this and do better with my post schedule. Don’t worry. I didn’t go anywhere! i won’t wait such a long time ever again.
